June Notes ~ A New Chapter

I feel like May dragged on and on, and then June came and went before I could even blink! These last few weeks have been hectic and life-changing, and I’m relieved they flew by as quickly as they did. This has been one of those months where everything just pivots in a new direction: the next chapter of my life has begun.

I started off this month with a trip to my new college. I transferred colleges this semester, so I’ll be headed to an entirely new school for my sophomore year. The whole thing has been really daunting and nerve-racking. I feel like I’m repeating my freshman year, which is a bit odd, and it’s always scary moving somewhere new. I was nervous to go out there for an appointment with my advisor, but it was a beautiful day and it all went really well! The whole drive was nothing but gorgeous green mountains and birds soaring in the sky. I can’t wait to live out there, I think it will be really good for me! The advisor was fantastic, my schedule is looking good, and, to be honest… I didn’t want to go home when my appointment was over! I spent a few hours walking around and soaking it in. I feel so lucky to be headed there this fall, and I’m so happy that I made the switch. I don’t think this has all sunk in quite yet.

In the middle of the month, my boyfriend and I broke up. We were together for nearly 4 years, so this has been a major life change. I wrote a little post about heartbreak, and how I’ve learned to cope with the end of my relationship as well as the loss of my friend. I think I’m handling everything pretty well, and I’ve definitely surprised myself. I have the closure that I needed and I stand by my choices, so I feel pretty good about it all. It’s a bit lonely, but I know that this next chapter of my life has so much in store for me. I’m going to a new place to make new friends, I’ll meet someone else one day, and everything will work out when the time is right.

Since the breakup, I’ve been trying to make a few changes to my daily routine and help keep myself busy. I’ve started Lorraine Massey’s Curly Girl Method, which has really been a game-changer for my hair. I haven’t really done any beauty-related stuff on this blog, but I would definitely like to venture down that path at one point or another. If that’s something that any of you would be interested in, let me know! I’ve also been trying to get back into running, and getting into shape. I’ve been using the treadmill for at least a few hours a week, and I haven’t seen results quite yet, but I’m documenting my fitness journey here on my blog.

And of course, I’ve been working so much! I’m at work 5 or 6 days a week now, and it’s been a lot, but I’m so proud of myself for making good money and I know that I’ll be glad I took this time to work hard when I could. My bank account and my future self will thank me later.

But the thing I’m most proud of this month has been… blogging!!! I’ve really fallen in love with blogging over these last few weeks, and I’ve posted more this month than I ever have before. The best part is, there’s still plenty more to come! I never thought I’d see the day where posting became a regular thing. But, I have a notebook full of ideas and plenty more posts on the way! I’m so happy that this blog has become important to me, and a few people are actually reading these posts, which is so amazing! So, if you’re here, thank you so so much for clicking on my post and taking the time to look at my blog. It means the world to me! I’m thinking of extending this little hobby out onto my YouTube channel, which has a few old videos but no real content.

I’m going on vacation in a few days so there will be a few fun posts going up over these next few weeks, and I can’t wait to share them with you! Also, I’m on the hunt for some new blogs to read, if anyone has any suggestions.

July, I’m coming for you!

Happy Friday everyone!
